Holidays, urban legends, and small-town grudges show up less as story than as gimmicks to justify the hunt, and nearly every entry trades psychology for sustained dread, jump scares, and graphic kills. The pleasure here is structural repetition itself, watching the same stalk-and-slash machinery restaged in a new location with a new mask.
