This is a loose grouping, but look closely and a quieter thread runs through it: people defined by their labor and their place in someone else's household or hierarchy—a carpenter, a maid, a servant, a bodyguard, a village protector, a ballerina turned asset. Their jobs aren't background color; they're the mechanism through which power, class, and moral compromise get worked out, often turning tender or corrosive depending on who holds the leash. It's less a genre than a recurring study of duty and servitude under pressure.
