Photography and Surveillance
This is a loose, oddly-shaped cluster, but a real thread runs through it: characters who are watched, recorded, or exposed, and the way a camera, lens, or fabricated image becomes the instrument of both threat and truth. Earthquake Bird, Shutter, Mr. Brooks, and The Man Who Knew Too Much all turn surveillance and image-making into sources of dread, while Drishyam, Untold, Be Natural, and Bettie Page Reveals All flip that same instinct toward uncovering a hidden or suppressed true story. Even the lighter entries carry a version of this — someone performing for an audience, caught between the image they project and the person underneath.
