Military Forces

These films keep circling back to institutions in crisis: chains of command that fracture under pressure, loyalties tested between duty and family, and outsiders (scouts, wives, cadets, framed pilots) caught inside systems that demand obedience while quietly corroding from within. Whether it's a gunboat crew unraveling in the jungle or a Home Guard platoon bumbling through drills, the uniform becomes a stage for testing what a person owes to the group versus to their own conscience. Even the lighter entries carry a residue of that tension, using camaraderie and spectacle to soften, but never erase, the underlying strain between order and human unpredictability.
