These films trap small groups of people in confined, cut-off spaces—bunkers, manors, snowed-in lodges, cursed towns—where the walls themselves seem to close in and reality stops holding together. What recurs isn't jump-scare spectacle but a slow corrosion of certainty, characters filming, recording, or documenting their own unraveling as an unseen force works on them psychologically before it ever fully reveals itself. The dread here is patient and claustrophobic, built on isolation and the creeping sense that something is watching long before it acts.
